Sounds Debatable

What is your podcast worth to sponsors, and what could it earn on its own?

How this is worked out

Show reach: independent shows use the niche rate. Higher tiers use whichever is higher, the tier rate or the niche rate. Flat fee: downloads across the term ÷ 1,000 × the mid-roll rate × two ad positions (a presenting sponsor usually gets an intro and a mid-show read), plus the premium you set for exclusivity and custom segments, divided between the sponsors.

Ad income per slot = downloads ÷ 1,000 × CPM. Monthly sponsorship = all slots × episodes per month × the share of slots you sell. Most shows do not sell every slot every week, so the default is half.

Own product: buyers each month = downloads per episode × the share of listeners who buy, using one episode’s audience as a rough count of regular listeners. Membership income grows as members join and some cancel, so the monthly figure shown is month 12. Service income assumes each client pays the price once a month.

Mid-roll CPMs are host-read estimates within the $22–$30 category range in Libsyn Ads’ published 2026 rate card. Pre-roll and post-roll are scaled to the $18–$25 and $10–$15 ranges in Ad Results Media’s 2025 benchmarks; produced and programmatic ads are scaled toward the roughly $12 floor.

These are estimates to plan with, not quotes. Real rates depend on your audience, location, exclusivity and how the deal is structured.
